Understanding Marbling in PVC Rafts and Sled

When you first unpack and unroll your raft, you may notice wrinkles or light-colored marks on the PVC surface. This is commonly referred to as “marbling” and is a normal characteristic of PVC materials.

What is Marbling?

Marbling appears as crease lines, cloudy patches, or pale spots in the fabric. These marks develop where the raft has been tightly folded during manufacturing, storage, and shipping. Because PVC is a flexible material, it can temporarily show these visual changes when compressed.

Why Does It Happen?

Rafts are folded and packaged to make transportation more efficient. During this process, pressure is applied to certain areas of the material, which can result in visible fold marks. This is purely cosmetic and does not indicate any defect or damage.

Will It Go Away?

Yes. With time, regular use, and exposure to warmer temperatures, marbling will gradually reduce or disappear altogether. As the material relaxes and is used in normal conditions, the appearance improves naturally.

Does Marbling Affect Performance?

No. Marbling has no impact on the performance, durability, or lifespan of your raft. It is simply a visual effect and does not compromise the integrity of the PVC material.

Warranty Information

Marbling is considered a normal occurrence and not considered for warranty claims. Your raft remains fully covered under standard warranty terms.
