More Buoyancy Doesn’t Automatically Mean a Safer Rescuer

“we should ask:

What will this rescuer be expected to do, where will they be expected to do it, and which PPE system best supports those activities safely?”

Rescue Wrap PFD: A Service Life That Starts When You Need It

Rescue Wrap PFD: A Service Life That Starts When You Need It

Rescue Wrap PFD: Designed for Longevity, Built for Rescue

Up to 10 years of operational service life, with a maximum lifespan of 15 years from manufacture.

At WRS International, we understand that rescue equipment needs to deliver more than just performance in the field. It also needs to provide long-term reliability, value and flexibility for the rescue professionals and organisations that depend on it.

Our Rescue Wrap PFD is supported by a service-life policy designed to provide greater flexibility for retailers, distributors and rescue teams alike, helping users maximise the potential working life of their equipment.

A Service Life That Starts When You Need It

The Rescue Wrap PFD offers a maximum operational service life of 10 years from the date of first use, subject to an absolute maximum of 15 years from the date of manufacture, whichever comes first.

This approach recognises that specialist rescue equipment may spend time in storage before being deployed into operational service.

By allowing the 10-year operational service-life period to begin when the PFD is first placed into use, rescue teams can benefit from more of the product's potential working life, while retailers and distributors have greater flexibility when managing their stock.

Importantly, this service-life policy also applies to previously sold Rescue Wrap PFDs, subject to the same registration, inspection and safety requirements.

Greater Flexibility Throughout the Supply Chain

Specialist rescue equipment needs to be available when it's needed, which often means retailers and distributors must maintain stock ready for immediate supply.

With a maximum lifespan of 15 years from manufacture, the Rescue Wrap PFD provides greater flexibility for stockholding, provided the equipment is stored correctly and remains suitable for service.

For rescue teams, this means equipment can be purchased and placed into service with confidence, knowing that its operational service-life period is determined by when it first enters use, within the overall 15-year limit.

Integrated Scannable QR Code Registration

Every Rescue Wrap PFD features either an integrated QR or NFC tag powered by Scannable, providing a simple and effective way to register and manage equipment throughout its operational life.

When the PFD is first placed into operational service, the date of first use must be recorded through the Scannable registration system.

This establishes the beginning of the PFD's 10-year operational service-life period and provides a clear reference for ongoing equipment management.

By maintaining accurate digital records, rescue teams can more easily track their equipment, support inspection processes and plan for future replacement.

For previously sold Rescue Wrap PFDs, the same service-life limits apply. Existing owners should ensure that the date of first use is accurately recorded.

Safety at Every Stage

Long-term reliability begins with proper care.

Before entering operational service, the Rescue Wrap PFD must be stored in accordance with WRS International's storage instructions and inspected to confirm its suitability for use.

Throughout its operational life, the PFD must undergo regular inspections and maintenance in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

The PFD must be permanently withdrawn from service upon reaching either its 10-year operational service-life limit or its 15-year maximum lifespan from manufacture, whichever occurs first. Equipment must also be withdrawn earlier if damage, deterioration or any condition affecting safety or performance is identified.

QR registration does not extend the maximum service life or replace the need for regular inspections and maintenance.

Supporting Rescue Professionals for the Long Term

At WRS International, we're committed to developing rescue equipment that delivers dependable performance alongside practical, long-term value.

The Rescue Wrap PFD's service-life policy reflects that commitment, providing flexibility throughout the supply chain while helping rescue teams maximise the potential operational life of their equipment.

Whether you're a retailer holding stock, a rescue organisation managing an equipment fleet, or an existing Rescue Wrap PFD owner, this policy provides a clear framework for managing the product's service life.

Built for rescue. Designed for longevity. Ready when it matters.
